METAMEDIA JOINS HOWIE MANDEL, MICROSOFT TO INTRODUCE SILICON VALLEY TO THE WORLD’S FIRST PLATFORM FOR INTERACTIVE MOVIE SCREEN CONTENT
Among Hollywood’s top-brass including actor and entrepreneur Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Inception,””Don Jon,” “The Dark Knight Rises”) and filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “The Lego Movie,” “21 Jump Street” franchise), MetaMedia joined actor, comedian and TV producer and host Howie Mandel and Microsoft to present Magic Screen powered by MetaMedia, the world’s first platform for interactive movie screen content, at Infinity Festival, a multi-day annual event that brings together Silicon Valley and Hollywood innovators to celebrate “stories enabled by technology.”
“We see the future as being live, streamed and interactive,” said Jason Brenek, CEO of MetaMedia. “We can all probably agree that the theater environment from an audio and visual standpoint is the most immersive environment. Magic Screen is the future and it’s with MetaMedia as a partner it’s all happening now.”
Now in its fourth year, the Infinity Festival in Los Angeles showcased Hollywood’s industry leading storytellers and new innovations such as remote work, virtual reality, augmented reality, gaming, NFTs and the metaverse. During the Magic Screen event, MetaMedia, Howie Mandel and the new platform’s partners provided a groundbreaking demo and overview of the technology that engages audiences and allows them to have individual, unscripted conversations with live action and animated characters. The innovative technology, supported by industry-leading partners, allows thousands of people in multiple theaters and cities to simultaneously interact with live-action and animated characters from one location.
Supported by Microsoft, NVIDIA, Unity and other technology partners, Magic Screen builds on Super 78’s Geppetto, a proprietary live-character animation and show-control system that allows audiences to have individual, unscripted conversations with animated characters. Geppetto, which Super 78 Studios developed over a decade, powers interactive shows in theme parks around the world. MetaMedia’s MetaMedia Entertainment Network will serve as the exclusive platform for Geppetto-powered Magic Screen interactives TM.
The MetaMedia Entertainment Network is the world’s first global, cloud-based distribution platform for studios, cinemas and other out-of-home venues. Powered by Microsoft Azure, the MetaMedia service provides for the secure, rapid and cost-saving delivery of live-streamed events, movies and advertising. In addition to Magic Screen interactive content provided by the Super 78 and Alevy Productions partnership, MetaMedia recently expanded its platform to deliver movie DCPs and trailers from major Hollywood Studios to more than 1,000 cinema screens via partnerships with many major global cinema chains. The company also partnered with Harena Data, Inc., a data analytics, league development and player management tool for the esports industry and Encore Live’s Encore Drive-In Nights for live concerts at drive-in venues and select cinemas.
